A retainer is not an additional fee; it is an advance payment applied toward the professional time, investigative services, and authorized expenses incurred during your investigation.The initial retainer is non-refundable and calculated using the applicable 10-hour minimum stated in the Investigative Services Agreement. Investigative services are documented and accounted for against the retainer so that you can see the work performed and how investigative time and authorized charges are applied.Any replenishment funds are different from the initial non-refundable retainer. Replenishment funds are applied as services are earned and authorized expenses are incurred. Any remaining unearned replenishment funds are refundable at the conclusion or termination of the investigation, subject to final billing, outstanding authorized expenses, and the terms of the Investigative Services Agreement.My goal is complete transparency. Throughout the investigation, you will receive a detailed accounting of the investigative work performed and the application of your retainer. If the retainer is exhausted and additional investigative services are recommended or requested, no further work will be performed without your knowledge and authorization.
